Jacques Brun is a Certified Banting Coach who inspired a Banting Movement in Sierra Leone
Jacques Brun is a firm Banting believer, and he has helped to create a movement towards the LCHF lifestyle in Sierra Leone. He now wants to inspire further change as a Real Meal Revolution trained Certified Banting Coach (CBC). As a CBC he will run his own Real Groups (Banting support groups) both online and face-to-face – through these groups, you can be a part of this change.
Jacques offers up some “banter” on his personal experience with Banting:
“Two years ago I was at a conference, and I was privileged enough to hear Prof. Tim Noakes share his knowledge and expertise on Banting. I was so inspired by what I had heard that it changed the course of my career and the focus of my life.
I left the corporate world to educate the local people of Sierra Leone about the dangers of sugar, with the assistance of my friend Karen Thompson. A testament to the success of this initiative is the fact that this community has started a movement called “Sugar is a Killer,” which has spilled over into the neighbouring countries of Guinea and Liberia.
I am currently a student at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, studying to become a certified Health Coach, and I am assisting a young girl with type 1 diabetes and coeliac disease along her Banting journey. I help her to make Banting based decisions aimed at improving her health. She has made remarkable improvements thus far. This interaction has inspired me to become a CBC, who can offer support and guidance to Banters, specifically being able to help those suffering from type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
As a Certified Banting Coach, I want to use my vast knowledge of nutrition combined with community work experience as a platform to help you become a better Banter.”
Bantingchanged the course of Jacques’ life; it encouraged him to inspire a change in the lives of an entire community.
Jacques’ personal experience means that he knows how to offer support to any of his Real Group members that may suffer from diabetes. He also has such a passion for Banting, that he could unite his community through his beliefs. Moving forward, he can bring this empathy and emotion into his Real Groups.
