Revolutionary Banting News from the week that was (2 Nov – 8 Nov 16)

Just one day of Banting lowers insulin resistance by 30 percent

The Daily Mail, reported last week, much of what we already knew. A study done by professors at Michigan University discovered that three low-carb meals within 24 hours lowered insulin resistance by more than 30 percent.

If it can do that in just a day, imagine the wonders of following a permanent Banting lifestyle?

Celebrities such as Madonna, Jennifer Aniston, Renee Zellweger and Cindy Crawford are already aware of the benefits. Now we just need to get the rest of the world healthier and slimmer.
Eating in the morning may actually be better for you than eating at night, reports a new study

The findings of the first human test of early time-restricted feeding were unveiled at The Obesity Society Annual Meeting in New Orleans on 3 November 2016. Dr. Courtney Peterson said, “We found that eating between 8 am and 2 pm followed by an 18-hour daily fast kept appetite levels more even throughout the day, in comparison to eating between 8 am and 8 pm, which is what the median American does.” The preliminary findings suggest that the time you eat during the day does have an impact on metabolism, and may help with weight loss. According to the body’s internal clock, your metabolism functions at its best in the morning.

Poor sleep can cause you to eat the equivalent of an extra four and a half slices of bread the next day

A new study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition noted that sleep deprived individuals can eat as much as an extra four and a half slices of bread following a poor night’s sleep. The reason they believe has more to do with wanting to feel better, as lack of sleep can lead to feelings of anxiety, although hormones do play a significant role, particularly leptin and ghrelin.

Coca-Cola spent $2.3 million on “health professionals and scientific experts” to “prove” that sugar and soda don’t make you fat

In Dr. Jason Fung’s latest blog post, he outs Coca Cola’s shenanigans and how they have tried to influence everyone in power, including Hilary Clinton, to prevent the public from finding out the truth behind their toxic beverages. And why we’ve been lead to believe the calorie lie for so long.

How the Soda Industry Caused Addiction

In a recent article, it was noted that sugar consumption has increased by 30% in the last 30 years, with the average American adult consuming 22 teaspoons a day, and children a shocking 32 teaspoons on a daily basis. The World Health Organisation recommends just six teaspoons a day. Coca-Cola has similar effects on the brain to cocaine, and it was even made with cocaine before it became illegal. The company needed to find a substance that was equally as addictive so that they would not lose out on sales – enter sugar, or more specifically high fructose corn syrup. Coca-Cola and Pepsi financially backed about 200 health organisations from 2011 to 2015, including the American Diabetes Association and the American Society for Nutrition.

“Soda companies have, without us really knowing or acknowledging it, slipped into the health and wellness industry.” That is a scary thought!
